An aside

In bed this morning, I noticed that on the ceiling there was a tennis-ball sized spot of light. As I looked at it, I shadows pass across the ceiling and obscure the light. It took me a few seconds to realize that the ball of light was the sun, and the shadows were clouds, as they passed in front of the sun. It was absolutely enchanting - a lovely representation of the sky. I guess that a small crack in the curtains had created something like a pinhole camera, projecting the sky onto our ceiling.

It's completely overcast now - no sun to be seen.
