My favourite classic children's book. I love the little epigrams for each chapter, and the fact that it's a hefty, long book. It's great because it's quite episodic, which means that you can pick it up and read a little at a time. And I apologise for saying this, but it does have the same kind of mythic background created as Lord of the Rings, with the stories of El-ahrairah. :-)

I can't remember reading Winnie the Pooh when I was very little, so maybe I didn't.

I loved all of the Katy books. Mine had a bright red cover.

Must have gone quite deep into my subconscious, as all the main characters head off to St Andrews at the end of the series.
